4 Types of Videos for Social Media Marketing

I often get asked by my clients and by my tribe about social media marketing strategies and, in particular, videos. What kind of videos are the best to use to market your business? The first one that I want to talk about is a how-to video. 

 

  • The How-To Video

 

How-To videos are highly searchable and a great way to connect with a new dreamy client. For example, if you are someone who sells furniture, you can do a step-by-step instructional video showing how to repair a stool. This will give your audience some takeaways and the “know, like and trust” factor when they use your advice to repair the furniture at home. 

Don’t worry, this doesn't mean you're taking business away from yourself. Actually, your dreamy client will connect with you over getting some free advice and start to really know, like and trust you.

When they have repairs that get a little too complicated for them to do at home, they'll come in. They will also stop by when they need one of your gorgeous new pieces!

 

  • Informational Video

 

Another opportunity is an information video. This is where you dive deep into your service or your physical product and all of the greatness about it. Tell that story.

Make sure it's jazzy and fun because the last thing you want to do is make these videos boring. Sometimes these videos can be a bit tedious if you're just droning on and on about the specifics. But you want to really get your people engaged, tell a story about the product, and get them excited.

  • Behind-the-Scenes (BTS)

 

Giving your dreamy clients a sneak peek behind the curtain is a great way to bring them into your tribe. 

For example, if you're a jeweler and you have a casting area or a design area you can shoot some videos in these areas showing your process. Interview designers and talk about the process while showing the work actually being done.

People love this and they can really connect with your business and with what you're doing. 

 

  • Lifestyle Videos

 

Lifestyle videos give your dreamy clients a chance to get to know you and see your personality up close. Let your light shine through! This is such an amazing opportunity for an authentic connection.

If you like to spend time with your family, post some videos of you guys on a Sunday. If you like to hike, show yourself on the trail with a friend. If you can’t get enough of your dogs, post some video of you and your fur babies. If a big part of your day is working out and meditating, talk about that.

People like to know you on a personal level and feel like they're a part of your tribe. Bring them in. Just be a little open with who you are so they can get to know you and feel like they want to do some business with you.
